Reclaimed Stories

"Reclaimed Stories" is a unique and exclusive collection created by Birmingham artist Glendinning Paul. With her hand in the entire art-making process, Glendinning painted these beautiful abstracts onto her very own handmade paper. 

Collecting paper from packages, to old sketchbook sheets, grocery lists, and planner pages, Glendinning separated each piece into color categories so that she could create a neutral color base. Over the course of several days she made paper start to finish. In her studio, she soaked the collected scrap pieces in water for about 24 hours, blended the paper, and then transferred the pulp into a different container of water. When the pulp was ready, she used her homemade screen sifts to pull on the paper pulp and drain the water to eventually turn into a piece of recycled and repurposed paper.
